What a joke!

I feel like such a joke right now!
I met up with some of my Lutheran Campus Ministry friends for a spiritual run on Saturday that we had planned a few weeks ago! Two of the girls were joking about how they were going to be in the back of the pack...well let me just tell you I was the only one in the "back of the pack"!

So much so, that only about 10 minutes into the run, all 7 other runners were WAY ahead of me! I'm used to just a nice easy jog starting out...but they took off like speedsters...almost like they were trying to keep up with the marathoner leader (he's currently training for a marathon)! Even if I had put all my effort into running, I don't think I would have caught up with them! I couldn't keep up so I went back to the starting point and "went to the bathroom" or at least that was the excuse I told everyone when they got back 20 minutes later!

I'm disappointed in myself...
I feel embarrassed...
I'm mad at myself...

Here's a picture of how I felt after the run:

SNOW DAY=Laziness

Even though I don't have class on Wednesdays, our school called a "Snow Day" after noon today! I was working on campus and decided to leave around lunch time!

The snow was horrible to walk through. It was slushy and slippery! I was just thinking the other day that I could get my bike dug out back into action!
The weather man lied...we were supposed to get 3-5 inches, but there's sooo much more!
Even though the title of the post indicates laziness, I wasn't that lazy today! I felt like I got a workout just walking through the slushiness! I walked a few blocks down to Kwik Trip with my roommate Julie since we were hungry. Both of us were upset with the weather, since it's supposed to be Spring!
I was supposed to be frowning
I plopped in the snow for a little while. For some reason I enjoy just plowing through the snow without a care in the world...ok, ok I feel so powerful with my AWESOME snow boots!
The snow is a perfect resting spot
After dinner I was going to go to a Lent service at the church about 15 minutes away, only to remember that the public schools had been closed today as well and when the schools are closed the church services are canceled! Well at least I got about 30 minutes of a slushy, slippery, wet, snowy walk in!

I completed all my homework earlier today so I've been catching up on my Cosmo and Fitness magazines for the majority of the night! One thing I'm trying to focus on is finding some races around the Madison, WI area for this summer :)

Also I'm watching the trashy reality show Real World: Las Vegas and looking up some new recipes to try!

Tomorrow I'm planning on getting on the treadmill and really working up a sweat!!

Hello Spring?! Where did you disappear to?!

In great ol' Wisco aka the frozen tundra, I think Mother Nature is a little confused!

On Monday it was 45 degrees, then all of a sudden yesterday it was snowing/hailing, thundering, lightning, and super windy?! Yes all in the span of a few hours!

Today I would say we have a good 6 inches! And it's still coming down!

Did Mother Nature not get the memo that Spring started on March 21st?!

Has the weather where you live been seasonally confused too?!

I'm back from my Habitat for Humanity Spring Break Trip in Elgin, IL! It was a blast! I learned soooo much on the build sites and had the opportunity to hang out/get to know some AWESOME people! The church that hosted us for the week was AMAZING as well, since we had to scramble the week before when we thought that the trip was going to be canceled.

We left on Saturday the 12th and came back on Saturday March 19th. Monday was a free day so some of our group jumped on the Metra for an hour train ride to CHICAGO!! Tuesday-Saturday was when we spent most of the day at the builds, but had down time to hang out and play games with everyone once we got back to the church. There's a variety of pictures all mixed up below of Elgin, Chicago, and the Habitat work sites!

On a side note: I have a job for the summer!! I interviewed a few weeks ago for a bible camp called Bethel Horizons located by Madison, WI for the Retreat Center Coordinator!! After interviewing with the recruiter, I knew that's exactly where I wanted to work! So I'll be spending my summer in the middle of WI!!! I'm so excited to be able to just relax now the rest of the semester without having to worry about jobs too!

Now that the snow has pretty much melted, I'm also looking forward to running outside! Now if only the temps would cooperate!

Have a great week and I look forward to sharing my trip with you!

What do you get for being productive?!...

...I get to BLOG more often!!! I really feel like I have these amazing time management skills balancing work, homework, and leisure activities! This semester has been the most productive and managed time of my life!!!

Well anyway onto the fun FAT TUESDAY activities that occurred! We had a pancake and sausage feed...I ate a little TOO much!
Pancakes and sausages!
They had a whole variety of different colored beads right when we walked in the door! Each of us got two: I stuck with 2 of the traditional Mardi Gras colors, purple and gold. While we ate they were playing JAZZ music and it was sooooo enjoyable! I didn't get a chance to take a picture of my individual plate, but I did get a group shot of my table.
Wasn't really prepared for this pic!
For dessert they went all out too and had an ice cream bar!!! Three kinds of ice cream: chocolate and vanilla, mint chocolate chip, and just vanilla! The toppings they had were crushed Oreos, Butterfingers, M & Ms, and caramel, chocolate, strawberry, etc, etc!!!! I had a scoop of vanilla and a scoop of mint chocolate chip!
Once everyone was finished with dinner and dessert, we headed up to the house's attic to make MARDI GRAS MASKS! I traced the template that was available and went crazy with my AWESOME paint skills! It took about a good 30 mins to create my masterpiece! Again I was feeling festive...HELLO it was FAT TUESDAY and I was feeling I stuck with the traditional colors!
All the goodies and festive colors!
Aw the creativity of college brains!
Traditional colors!!
I got home just in time for GLEE!!! I usually don't want it on my own, but I promised my roommate I would watch it with her! After that was done we waited for Teen Mom 2! I don't know what exactly it is about trashy MTV shows because my roommates and I LOVE them! Here we are with some expressions to express our concern for the young teen moms and just goofing off:
This is the sculpture our friend of the house gave us...random!
As you all read this you may be thinking...."how come she hasn't been running?" well I will be running once the weather starts to warm up and the snow melts, actually I'm thinking I will hop on the treadmill tomorrow! I have a busy day with lots of walking so a lot of times I count that for my exercise.

I worked today and even got to an Ash Wednesday service on campus that was put on by the ministry. I only rocked the ashes for about 30 mins, because I didn't want to get it all over my clothes.
Rockin the ashes
I took a " nap" as in like 2 hours worth of sleep and woke up feeling too lazy to make any effort of a dinner! So instead of slaving over the stove, I simply put a chicken breasts with seasoning in the oven and microwaved some green beans. Along with that I enjoyed a piece of garlic toast (which was burnt from the pizza oven) with an OREO for dessert! For some reason I enjoyed some Lambrusco, which is a sweeter wine that I'm used to since my extended family drinks it at special occasions, and it has been sitting in my fridge since October. It's a huge bottle, so I have to use it sometime!
Such a lazy dinner, but it was DELICIOUS!
Today is another full day for me! One thing that I'm looking forward to is going to Caribou with my running buddy Rebecca! I haven't seen her for like 2 weeks, so I'm excited!

TGIT (Thank God It's Thursday)!!! Does anyone else feel like this week is dragging on?!

Like I said before the beginning of my week is jam packed with events!!
Just a little inspiration!
I painted (worked) for about 6 hours yesterday, ran home to spend 2 hours taking an online test with my roommate Shayna, and then headed to Lutheran Campus Ministries for our weekly Monday night dinner/discussion.
Here was my lunch:
Turkey, cheese, hummus sandwich, with leftover minestrone soup and salad
ON AN EXCITING NOTE: IT'S FAT TUESDAY!!! Tonight after working for a couple hours I'm heading to a breakfast feed in honor of Fat Tuesday! They're serving pancakes, sausage, and other types of breakfast food I'm assuming. I'm going to try to control myself and not eat too much, but I'M NOT MAKING ANY PROMISES!

I'll be sure to take lots of pictures to share!

Do you have any big plans for Fat Tuesday?!

MOA aka Miles of America

If you read my last post, you know I was headed to Mall of America for a full 12 hours on Saturday! Let me just tell you I felt like I had walked Miles Of America! Each floor measures about a mile so my friends and I probably got in a few good miles walking back and forth to different stores!
Looking down on the Rotunda!
My college was offering a free coach bus to the mall which is about an hour or so away...but it was an early morning for us all. We had to be at the bus at 10:15, so sleeping in like we're used to wasn't possible.
When we got there we it was noon and we were all starving. We ended up going to Hooter's (unfortunately) since my roomate Shayna had never been there. I got the "All the Way Dog" which was pretty much a hot dog with chili and cheese piled on top along with curly fries (sorry for no picture). It definitely wasn't worth the $5.99 and the service was horrible! I mean just a side of plain curly fries was $2.99 and they weren't even seasoned! I should have known, especially since they even describe themselves as “delightfully tacky, yet unrefined."
Missy and Lauryn creeping on Shayna and I
After lunch we sort of went our own ways. Shayna wanted to go to Marshalls and we were headed a wine place. But we were distracted by him:
Julie, Me, Shrimp, Lauryn, Missy
We couldn't pass up a free wine tasting (my parents would be so proud). It wasn't my top pick of activities to do after eating a huge meal, but I was PERSUADED when these cute little bottles greeted me once I walked in the door:
Took this picture for my roommate Shayna (she loves cats)
The cool thing about this wine tasting is that they didn't even ask for our IDs. I guess when you're 22 you just get used to whipping out your ID, especially for me since I've been mistaken for a 15 year old. We sampled 3 types of wine: a desert wine from France, a dry red, and a white wine.

The dessert wine definitely won my vote. My family and I are used to drinking the sweeter wines, so the dry red and last white wine were not my cup of tea wine.
The dessert wine=winner
After the wine tasting we walked ALL OVER THE MALL. Literally we walked the whole 2nd and 3rd floor along with walking up the escalators. Oh and dodging the MASS AMOUNTS OF PEOPLE. I'm from MN so I know best not to go there on a Saturday because of the crowds!!  Especially when there's a Pokemon gaming tour going on.
Kids just taking turns gaming
We saw sooo many people dressed up as characters
After fighting crowds and gawking at the Pokemon people we hit some retail stores, mostly so my roommates could shop! I love just going with people to be a fashion consultant or they refer to me as their personal assistant since I'm always helping them carry stuff.
Just "catting" around in H&M
Miss matchin like a fool! Such ugly pants!
I took a lot of sitting breaks! Walking around was making me tired and hot, so I stopped at a Starbucks (remembering I had gotten a gift card for Xmas)
Breaking with my roomie Missy! It was MUCH needed!
A much needed Venti Light Carmel Frappuccino
Wide awake after that Venti
Soon after this we decided to hit up a place called the Burger Bar for Happy Hour. I decided against getting anything since I was saving my money for dinner! The service was kinda slow too at Burger Bar and we were rushing to get to Cantina #1 for our dinner reservations!

Cantina #1 had very high expectations since we were all craving Mexican! The first 2 bowl of tortilla chips were devoured in 5 minutes of sitting down! They eventually brought over about 4 more baskets! I decided to go light on dinner and just ordered the chips with queso, since the other entrees were sort of spendy $$$. We found this on the menu:
All these promises for $15.99
We also got a picture with our mascot from Cantina!
And his parrot who has his own Corona! Wow I've never been more jealous of a parrot ;P

The waiter was really confused with our order and it took us about 2 hours to get out of there! I'm glad that I got my $5.99 plate of chips and queso since the others had food that was so overpriced for what they actually got. Once dinner was done we were headed back to the bus!

I had such a FUN day hanging with all my friends while being able to walk a few miles! I love it when you can incorporate two of the best things in the world...although it was such a sunny gorgeous day outside, so that would have topped all activities!!

After a LONG day! I look so white compared to Julie
This next week I'm going to be a very busy bee! I have events Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday plus packing for Spring Break! I'll be sure to take lots of pictures to share!!
