Wow, it feels so great to be posting for the first time!! I've been looking around at every one's blogs and have become jealous because I couldn't wait to get on here! It has taken me a week just to get the technical stuff worked out!
This blog will track my progress toward my ultimate goal at this time of a 5k run in December! I will be following the C25K program (Cool Running C25K Training Program), which is scheduled for 9 weeks, but obviously my run isn't until December so hopefully I will be more than ready!
I know 3.1 miles is not a long distance for some people, but I have always been in that "non-runner" category. The stamina (from years of high kick dance) and ambition is in my system, just need to get over the mental aspect of giving up.
I have been walking all summer and have always dreamed of doing a 5k or more. On a whim at work Rebecca asked if I wanted to train to do one, so here I am writing about it! With the help of my running partner Rebecca (this will be her 1st 5k as well), I am determined to accomplish this goal!!
|Me and my running partner Rebecca all geared up for our interval training!|
So far our training has already lasted a week...it seemed to crawl by! This may be jumping the gun too quickly but I can already feel the desire to jump ahead in the training and run longer and further. I know its just me being overambitious, but it makes me feel GREAT! I haven't had any major aches. The only pain I'm feeling is slight shin splints in my left leg! Let's hope that I haven't spoke too soon.
|We were so excited to make it to the 1 mile marker!|
In anticipation of my training I went out and got some essential articles of clothing. Well I didn't buy them, but my dad did! See he walks marathons and has had better times than some of the people who run! I told my parents that I wanted to achieve this goal and they were totally supportive (ex: buying my first pieces of Under Armour and running shoes). I bought a Bondi Band (http://bondiband.com/) after many positive reviews and fellow blogger Running Diva Mom (http://runningdivamom.blogspot.com/) had raved about them!
Sorry for the rambling I've been looking forward to my first posting!! So follow along and feel free to leave me any tried and true tips for running!
