So today was another day on the training schedule! It sounds awkward to say but I had been looking forward to it since the last running day which was Friday! My running partner and I were going to head to a new nature recreation area that neither of us had been too, so that upped my excitement as well since I have had people gush about the gorgeous trails.
We thought it would be a decent hour long training session, but we were in for a rude awakening. By the time we headed out to the hills, it was 12:15pm. Driving out there was a whole new story! It was about a 25 min drive with little signage to direct us, ugh! Once we got out there and decided what trail we would conquer, the mosquito ceiling opened! I'm not kidding, they completely swarmed us!!! Within the 3 mins that we were at the trail head THEY had conquered us! And us being the smart college girls we are had no bug spray, only sunscreen to fend them off. Needless to say we turned right back around and headed to the car to go to the Red Cedar! Before we took anymore risks, we headed over to Caribou for a refreshment and then went to Wal-Mart to splurge on bug spray!
|Our god sent! Maximum protection from those little blood suckers!|
After our hour long unexpected adventure, we finally made it to our training spot!!! Our ordeal had worn us down, but it wasn't going to stop us from our training. At first the heat was bearable (only 90 degrees with sun beating down on you and with humidity that's like walking through a blanket), but it soon turned out to be too hot! Instead of doing our interval training we decided just to walk 1 mile down and then the mile back.
|It took all my might not to jump in!|
I was a little disappointed that we didn't get to interval train, but when the weather is miserable it's impossible to get into the mind set of running! I guess it was still great that we got our 2 miles in :)
Though we didn't get to do our interval training today, we have planned to meet up Tuesday to do it! I can not wait! No aches or pains, just a few mosquito bites to show that we were defeated! But after our repellent application, we were good to go!
